Creating Mentor Groups

You should only ever create a Mentor Group if you are a mentor in an official university Mentor Program.

To create a Mentor Group from a computer:

1.  Click on the 'Mentor Groups' feature from your LHS Menu

2. Click the '+ Create Mentor Group' button from the top RHS of the 'Mentor Groups' homepage - after clicking the '+ Create Mentor Group' button you will see the Create Mentor Group page

3. Enter the name of the University Mentor Program you are involved in (Required Step)

4. Add Academic Topics that mentees can get help with by being a member of your group - additional topics can be added by clicking the '+ Add Another Topic' link

5. Add Additional Languages you speak - additional languages can be added by clicking the '+ Add Another Language' link

6. Add your Interests and Hobbies - additional interests and hobbies can be added by clicking the '+ Add Another Interest or Hobby' link

7. Add any mentees that are assigned to you by entering their name and university email in the 'Add Mentees' section

If the student is already a member of UCROO, when you enter their name they will appear in a drop-down list - simply select the student from this list

If the student is not yet a member of UCROO, you will be required to enter their name and university email (you will know the mentee is not a UCROO user if their name doesn't appear in a drop-down list). When the student joins UCROO, they are automatically added to your Mentor Group

Add additional mentees to your group by clicking the '+Add Another Mentee' link

Once added, mentees are automatically sent an email informing them they have been added to your Mentor Group

8. Enter the maximum number of mentees that can be members of your Mentor Group (Required Step)

If you would like other students to be able to add themselves to your Mentor Group, you must enter a number higher than the number of mentees you added to your Mentor Group in the last step (note: this may a requirement of your university Mentor Program, so check with the Program Coordinator if you are unsure what to enter here)

For example

If you added 2 mentees to your Mentor Group in Step 7, and you would like to allow up to 3 more students to be able to join your Mentor Group - enter 5 as the maximum number of mentees that can be members of your Mentor Group

9. Click the Create Mentor Group button and you will be taken to your new Mentor Group
